How to turn a creative idea into a production-ready AI prompt

A useful prompt is not a collection of fashionable adjectives. It is a compact production brief with a purpose, an audience and enough visual direction to guide the next creative decision.

Prompt Library concept cards arranged as a creative production system

I am Paolo Barranca, a London-based creative producer and content strategist. I built my Prompt Library to organise visual concepts before they reach an external image or video tool. The website develops and stores prompts; it does not claim to generate the final media.

Start with the job the content must do

Before choosing a visual style, define the outcome. Is the content meant to introduce a product, create curiosity, explain a process or hold attention in a short-form feed? A prompt becomes more useful when its creative choices support a specific communication task.

Define the production format

State whether the result is intended for a 9:16 short-form video, a square social post, a landscape campaign image or another format. Include the expected duration for motion work and the platform context when it changes framing, pacing or safe areas.

Describe the subject and action clearly

Identify the main subject, what is happening and what should remain visually dominant. Concrete direction is easier to interpret than a long chain of disconnected style words.

Control composition, light and movement

Composition tells the tool where attention belongs. Lighting establishes mood and readability. For motion, camera behaviour and the order of events matter as much as the appearance of a single frame.

Add constraints

A production-ready prompt explains what must not happen: unwanted text, logos, watermarks, distorted anatomy, irrelevant objects or changes to protected parts of a supplied reference. Constraints reduce ambiguity and make review more efficient.

Keep the prompt connected to a workflow

The prompt is one part of production. References, versions, publishing destinations and review notes need a consistent place. That is why the Prompt Library uses numbered concepts and why complete private projects are developed and saved inside AI Content Studio.
